NEW ACCREDITED FIRE RISK ASSESSORS REGISTER

We are the first to sponsor a new accredited fire risk assessors register.

The full roll out will happen progressively over 2013. This really is a hot topic with a few registers on the market already. So why is this one different to the rest? Well this remains to be seen but as it develops we believe that:
  • It will be more practically based than most other schemes with less red tape perhaps;
  • It will concentrate on the most appropriate former fire service officers as a core resource;
  • It should be more affordable for the risk assessors;
  • It reduces the assessors overhead so it should make these assessors more competitive;
  • It could offer a more reliable service to client businesses than the models we are aware of at the moment.

FIRECOMPLY COMMENT: If you want to know more follow the link below...

After that it you want to participate in its development for personal or common good or wish to register interest as an assessor then just e-mail info@firecomply.co.uk and we will get back to you. Equally if you just want to ask a few questions then feel free.

GREAT COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH!

Our latest company accounts for FY 2011/12  have just been rated by Experian. The great news is that we have managed to retain our "No1" credit rating, which in the current financial climate is no mean feat. In addition here are a few more figures that might be of passing interest to some:
  • The available recommended credit figure has risen by 60%
  • Working capital is up 61%
  • The acid test ratio is up 15% at 1.8 which is bang on the average for the upper quartile in our industry sector
  • Net assets are up 36%
  • Loans nil!
  • Dividends are also nil (but investment in the future has followed).
But why are we telling you all this? Well we're proud to be managing the current financial climate so well despite some setbacks along the way and we are looking forward to continued success year on year, especially in 2013.

FIRE STATION BURNS DOWN IN SCOTLAND

Hot News for sure! A retained fire station has been badly damaged by fire in North Berwick, Scotland

FIRECOMPLY COMMENT: It just shows that a fire can happen to anyone if conditions allow it. We know they had a risk assessment but we don't yet know the cause. I would have thought arson might be a good bet. Some misguided person might think that was funny! Other than that; no comment!

XMAS TREE LIGHTS CAN BE HIGH RISK - CHECK THIS OUT

Following a fire today in an indoor market its worth remembering at this time of year that electrical fires are a major statistic in the cause of fire incidents in the home and at work.

FIRECOMPLY COMMENT: Xmas lights can be particularly high risk whether they are old or brand new.

Old lights are often bundled up and put in a box to be stored away each year and the bending, stretching and folding of the wire can cause a fault over time. Why not give them a quick inspection and light them up on the garage floor for an hour before putting them on the tree?
New lights can be cheap imports delivered with a fault as new. Why not give them the same test?

It might not be the most demanding test ever devised by man but it's better than just putting them on the tree and going to bed. Which brings in another point switch them off before you do go to bed, don't leave them on overnight unattended.
Enjoy your Xmas, don't remember it forever for the wrong reasons!

UK FIRE SAFETY LAWS OVER THE TOP

Many business owners openly say that UK Fire Safety Order introduced in October 2006 is over the top and is totally unnecessary.

FIRECOMPLY COMMENT: Most of this rhetoric is actually about the financial implications. This BBC article graphically demonstrates what can go wrong with poor fire precautions. The owner lost his factory and over a 100 people died yet the premises owner says the building was perfectly safe! Self preservation kicks in as people say he should hang. What do you think?
